Albert Gallatin had a three-point lead after three quarters, but Gateway rallied in the final frame for a 50-48 victory in Section 5-1A boys basketball action on Tuesday at Albert Gallatin High School.

The Gators lead the section with a record of 10-1, and are 12-6 overall, but trailed 42-39 as the fourth period began. Gateway outscored the home team, 11-6, in the quarter to edge the Colonials (0-11, 2-15).

Albert Gallatin had a 19-14 lead after the first quarter before the Gators used a 16-12 advantage in the second frame to cut the deficit at halftime to 31-30. The Colonials used an 11-9 edge in the third to regain their three-point advantage.

Gateway’s Mykel Bruce-McCrommon led his team and the game in scoring with 21 points. Teammate Jax Vovaris chipped in with 10.

Adam Pegg led Albert Gallatin in scoring with 17 points. The Colonials’ Elliot Sines had 11.

Jefferson-Morgan 50, West Greene 39 — Jeremiah Robertson and Dayten Marion combined for 36 points in the Rockets’ victory over the Pioneers in Section 2-3A play at Jefferson-Morgan High School.

Robertson had a game-high 22 points and Marion added 14.

Matt Wassil led West Greene in scoring with 14 points.

Jefferson-Morgan (10-1, 17-1) had a 9-4 lead after the first quarter and a 26-13 halftime advantage after outscoring the visitors, 17-9, in the second period. West Greene (5-6, 6-11) won the third quarter, 10-9, and the fourth, 16-15.

Beth-Center 59, Carmichaels 56 — The Mikes’ second-half comeback fell short in a Section 2-3A contest at Beth-Center High School.

The Bulldogs (6-5, 10-8) had a 14-9 lead after the first quarter and a 31-22 halftime advantage. The Mikes (2-9, 3-14) won the third period, 15-11, and the fourth, 19-17, but couldn’t get over the hump.

Beth-Center’s Jason Zellie led the game in scoring with 17 points. Teammates Brayden Hull (16) and Brayden Ozohonish (15) were also in double figures.

Chase Ankrom led Carmichaels with 15 points. Alex Toth put-in 14.
