Red Raiders give Uphold first coaching victory

Danae Uphold earned her first coaching victory in Uniontown’s 235-256 victory over Frazier in non-section play on Tuesday at Uniontown Country Club.
The Red Raiders’ Liam Glover earned medalist honors with a 41. Teammate Chandler Myers carded a 47. Graci Rodeheaver and Brayden Gmitter each fired a 48. JJ Stewart’s 51 closed out the scoring for Uniontown (0-1, 1-1).
Mason Ritz led the Commodores (0-1, 0-2) with a 48. Nash Fouch had a 49 and Eli Cernuska carded a 50.
Logan Solomon fired a 45 and Kaden Phillips came in at 55.
Waynesburg Central 182, Avella 204 — The Eagles’ Tristan Davis carded a 2-under-par 31 for medalist honors, but the Raiders had all five of their starters shoot under 39 on the front nine at Rohanna’s Golf Course for a non-section victory.
Waynesburg (1-0, 2-0) was led by Lucas Slifko’s 35. Austin Surber shot a 36, and Matt Eisiminger, Cole Headlee and Jarett Tretinik all carded 37s.
Although his total was used in scoring the match, the Raiders’ Rykan Gustafson shot a 38.
Avella’s Nate Cilia came in at 38. Teammates Noah Greene and Kamden Jeffers each fired a 44. Alex Brandenburg’s 47 closed out the scoring for the Eagles.
Girls golf
Mount Pleasant 207, Belle Vernon 213 — The Lady Leopards’ Sydney Stark earned medalist honors after shooting a 44, but the Lady Vikings earned a triumph in Class 2A Section 1 play at Cedarbrook Golf Course.
Morgan Miller carded a 48 to lead Mount Pleasant (1-0, 1-0). Teammate Ally Christner shot a 49, and Layla Gratzinger (54) and Victoria Tepper (56) closed the scoring for the visitors.
Ava Dudzinski and Hailey Farrah had 54s for Belle Vernon (0-1, 0-1). Chelsea Lombard’s 61 was the fourth and final score to come in for the Lady Leopards.
