Rockets soar past Bentworth in boys golf

Urijah Teasdale fired a 1-over-par 36 to help propel Jefferson-Morgan past host Bentworth, 203-227, in a Section 3-2A boys golf match at Chippewa Golf Course on Thursday.

Mile Sowden carded a 39 for the Rockets and was followed by Trenton Sowden (41), Jack Shaffer (43) and Jaymison Robinson (44).

Topping the Bearcats were Trent Wolpink and Sam Wade who each shot 43. Craig McDonald and Jeremy Bland both had a 46 for Bentworth and Corbin McMurray turned in a 49.

Carmichaels 212, Beth-Center 251 – Eli Hastings and Connor Lapana both shot a 5-over-par 40 in the Mikes’ Section 3-2A win over the host Bulldogs at Chippewa Golf Club.

Anthony Post followed that duo with a 42, Jayden Kerley carded a 43 and Cooper Richards rounded out the scoring for Carmichaels (1-0, 1-1) with a 47.

Parker Amos paced Beth-Center (0-2, 0-2) with a 42 and Austin Kurowski was right behind him with a 43. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Claven Krosko (53), Kaleb Amos (55) and Alex Smith (58).

Belle Vernon 205, Laurel Highlands 213 – The Mustangs’ Kayden Smith earned medalist honors with a 1-under-par 35 but Laurel Highlands fell to the Leopards in a Section 2-3A match at Cedarbrook Golf Club.

Jordan Mocello led Belle Vernon (3-0, 3-0) with a 1-over 37 and Landon Vaccaro carded a 39. Rounding out the scoring for the Leopards were Jack Edwards (41), Evan Mesco (43) and Connor Bergman (45).

Dan O’Neal had a 41, Sevi Vecchiolla and Mason Cicci both shot 45 and Ryan Revak turned in a 47 for LH (1-1, 1-1).

Girls golf

Hempfield 176, Connellsville 234 – Katarina Devito shot a 1-over-par 36 as the visiting Lady Spartans knocked off the host Lady Falcons in a Section 3-3A match at Pleasant Valley Golf Club.

Connellsville’s Addie Richter tied Hempfield’s Emma Smillie for the second-best round of the day with a 46. Also scoring for the Lady Spartans were Hailey Uhrinek and Paige Kline who both shot 47.

Following Richter for the Lady Falcons (0-2, 0-3) were Isabella Nussbauer who shot 58 and Sophia Pleva and Maddie Bigam who both carded a 65.

Southmoreland 195, Mount Pleasant 217 – The Lady Scotties’ Kendall Campbell and Paige Gunderson shot 45 and 46, respectively, in helping Southmoreland beat the Lady Vikings in a Section 1-2A match at Donegal Highlands Golf Course.

Kearlyn Fedorko was next in line for the Lady Scotties with a 50 and Riyah Younkin shot 54.

Leading the way for Mount Pleasant was Morgan Miller with a 48. She was followed by Victoria Tepper who had a 55 and Lainey Brown and Layla Gratzinger who both shot 57.
