Belle Vernon tops Division II, Section 5 cross country team
Belle Vernon’s Leonidas Soto and Brooklyn Steeber earned their way onto the podium at the WPIAL Championship meet, and the duo highlighted the Division II, Section 5 cross country team.
The Leopards’ Logan Metzger was on the first team, and teammates Sam Rushak, Gavin Metzger and Tyler Perozzi were honorable mention.
California’s Carter Kent qualified for his third state meet in as many years, which earned him a spot on the first team. Teammate Charles Meiss also made the first team.
Brownsville’s Owen Shimshock and Southmoreland’s Dylan Bierhals earned first-team recognition.
Greensburg Central Catholic’s Lukas Czegan, Kolbe Foss and Will Grzelewski were named to the first team.
Calvary Chapel’s Max Hunter was honorable mention. East Allegheny’s Allen Carter rounded out the boys team.
The Lady Leopards were well represented, as Bella Tatar, Lily Walsh, DeLaney Fretts and Heidi Beitler joined Steeber on the first team.
Brownsville’s Angel Buddenmeyer earned honorable mention on the team.
Serra Catholic’s Lexi Pearce, Emily Ruperto and Geneva Tobrosky made the first team. Greensburg Central Catholic’s Ainsleigh Sickle and Shea House earned first-team honors.
The Lady Centurions’ Nolan Althof, Alana Coletti and Regan Kerr were honorable mentions. Steel Valley’s Katherine McNeely was honorable mention.
