Mustangs blank AG to wrap up soccer playoff spot

Cole Radcliffe knocked in four goals and added an assist as Laurel Highlands blanked visiting Albert Gallatin, 7-0, to clinch a WPIAL boys soccer playoff spot in Section 2-3A on Tuesday night.
The Mustangs (7-7, 11-7) tied Ringgold, which lost to Bethel Park, for fourth place with both advancing to the postseason.
Elliot Boor added a goal and an assist and Matt Kolencik and Jack Baker each scored a goal for LH, which also got one assist apiece from Chase Hall, Lucas Deguia and Ben Antol.
Mustang goalkeepers Dan O’Neal, Toby Downs and Matt Komacko combined for the shutout.
The Colonials end the season at 1-13 in the section and 2-15 overall.
West Mifflin 4, Belle Vernon 1 — Wyatt Dyga, Zaim Sharafee, Cooper Hilligsberg and Greyson Black each scored a goal as the Titans (3-7, 4-12-1) upended the visiting Leopards in a Section 3-3A match.
Jackson Pressel scored the lone goal for fourth-place Belle Vernon (5-5, 7-10-1), which had already clinched a WPIAL playoff spot. Dom Pireaux assisted on the goal.
Goalkeeper Morgan Bunch made 13 saves for the Leopards.
Aquinas Academy 4, Beth-Center 0 — Marco Anselmino had two goals and Jonah Burchill and Andrew Giancola also scored to lead Aquinas Academy (12-5) past Beth Center (10-7) for the non-section win.
Franklin Regional 4, Uniontown 0 — Fabrizzio Costa scored three goals as the Panthers (8-2, 15-3) shut out the host Red Raiders (1-9, 5-13) in a Section 3-3A match.
Waynesburg Central 1, Greensburg Salem 1 — The Raiders (4-8-1, 4-9-1) and host Lions (4-9, 5-12) played to a draw in their Section 4-2A match.
Girls volleyball
Waynesburg Central 3, Washington 0 — Ani Cree rang up 16 kills and eight digs and Emily Rafferty had 10 kills and two aces as the undefeated Raiders swept host Washington to clinch the Section 3-2A championship outright.
Scores were 25-12, 25-6 and 25-13.
Chatham Knight totaled 18 assists, two digs and two aces and Harper Grimes contributed seven kills, three digs and three aces for Waynesburg (13-0, 17-0) which also got 16 assists from Gina Tedrow, 15 digs from Lelia McCollum, six kills, three digs and three aces from Railey Bochna and four assists from Kendall McKay.
Brownsville 3, Burgettstown 0 — Skyler Gates racked up 14 kills as the host Lady Falcons swept the Lady Blue Devils to clinch at least a share of second place in Section 3-2A.
Brownsville (11-2, 15-2) won by scores of 25-12, 25-7 and 25-10.
Cyan Eilam had 10 kills for the Lady Falcons.
Burgettstown fell to 2-11 in the section and 4-13 overall.
Thomas Jefferson 3, Laurel Highlands 1 — The Lady Jaguars clinched the Section 3-3A championship outright with a victory over the Mustangs at Harold “Horse” Taylor Memorial Gymnasium.
Thomas Jefferson (11-0, 13-3) won the first two sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-20, but Laurel Highlands (8-3, 14-3) earned a 25-22 victory in the third set. The Lady Jaguars won the fourth set, 26-24.
The Mustangs were led by senior Sara Reed, who had 34 digs, 32 assists, four aces and two kills. Reed, a four-year varsity player and three-year setter, passed 1,000 assists in her high school career.
“We would also like to recognize senior Sara Reed for passing 1,000 assists in her varsity career,” Laurel Highlands coach Machaela Hall said. “We are very proud of her.”
Teammate Esher Waqanivalu chipped in with 30 digs, 11 kills, two aces and a block. Laurel Highlands’ Addie Ciez had 17 digs, seven kills and one ace and block apiece.
Diondra Brown had 16 digs, 10 kills, nine blocks and an ace for the home team, and Harlie Dirda contributed with 22 digs, five kills and an assist.
Brinley Duncan added five blocks, digs and kills apiece, and an assist. Kayla Howell had 18 digs.
The Mustangs have qualified for the WPIAL playoffs, and close their section schedule tonight at Ringgold.
Geibel Catholic 3, Calvary Chapel 0 — Mallory Clemmer had 11 kills, 14 digs and eight aces as the Lady Gators closed their season with a non-section win over Calvary Chapel.
Scores were 25-12, 25-23 and 25-20.
Nolace Petrosky totaled 18 digs and seven kills for Geibel (4-14) which also got four aces from Angela Li.
Jefferson Morgan 3, Mapletown 1 — Ava Wood had 11 kills and 20 digs and Kelsey Vessels contributed eight kills and 26 digs in the Lady Rockets’ Section 3-A win over the visiting Lady Maples.
J-M dropped the first set, 25-20, but came back to win the next three by scores of 25-13, 25-18 and 25-18.
Emily Bazzoli accumulated 30 digs for Jefferson-Morgan (4-5, 6-8) which also got 27 assists from Mia Bertagnolli, 10 kills from Beautiful Medlen and eight kills from Bailey Cervone.
Treslee Weston led Mapletown (3-6, 5-10) with 10 kills, 12 digs and three aces and Rowan Eisiminger contributed 11 kills, 10 digs and two aces. The Lady Maples also got 21 assists and seven digs from Marley Shiflett, 19 digs from Makenna Lotspeich and three aces and two kills from Sophia Vanata.
Belle Vernon 3, Albert Gallatin 1 — Mia Roebuck had 14 kills and Aubrey Brown added 10 kills as the host Lady Leopards triumphed over the Lady Colonials (0-12, 1-14) in a Section 3-3A match.
Mallory Wasicek totaled six kills and six digs for Belle Vernon (8-3, 14-3), which also got 30 assists from Abby Nickolls, 10 digs from Joy Johnson and four kills from Lyla Teets.
