Veteran cross country and track & field coach and competitor Joe Carei directs a young runner towards the finish line in the Principal’s 1K Challenge Sept. 20 at Hutchinson Park in Hopwood. Carei and the Uniontown Run Club will be present on Thursday during a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Sheepskin Trail.

The South Union Township will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate lights being added along the Sheepskin Trail on Thursday evening behind the South Union Indoor Sports Complex across from Bailey Park.

The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. The address for the South Union Indoor Sports Complex is 333 South Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, PA 15401.

The Uniontown Run Club will be on hand, and runners, walkers and cyclists are welcome. Costumes are encouraged to coincide with Halloween.

The lights on the trail have been installed to allow those who access the Sheepskin Trail the opportunity to complete their exercise in the evening, but the 10 p.m. curfew is still in place.

Live music will follow at Mom Maruca’s Pizza Shop.

DeGusipe Energy Solutions LLC, the Fayette Chamber of Commerce, Uniontown Run club, K2 Engineering, Inc. and TheTrophyHusband.run are sponsoring the event.
