Uniontown has strong showing in Marty Uher Invite

Uniontown had six overall place winners (four boys and two girls) and was one of the top three teams in the boys and girls races on Saturday in the 53rd Annual Marty Uher Invite at Roadman Park on the campus of PennWest California.
The Lady Red Raiders placed second overall and first among Class 2A teams with 77 points. Uniontown was first among Pennsylvania schools, as University, W.Va., won the team championship with 30 points.
University’s Abigail Rogers won the girls race in 20:27.5. Teammates Rosalia Biundo (20:38.6) and Cara Zundell (20:54.9) were second and third before Belle Vernon’s Brooklyn Steeber broke up University’s pack with a fourth-place finish in a time of 21:02.7.
Charley Murtha led the Lady Red Raiders in fifth place at 21:48.8. Arrington Scott was 12th in 22:31.3, and Hannah Foster (16th/23:09.4) and Paisley Murtha (17th/23:30.3) also reached the medal stand.
Kiley Abbott (29th/24:29.5) rounded out the team scoring for Uniontown.
The Lady Leopards were fourth overall (2nd in Class 2A) in the team standings with 89 points.
Belle Vernon’s Heidi Beitler reached the podium in 14th place with a time of 22:52.7. Bella Tatar (21st/23:43.4), Lilah Steeber (24th/23:57.7) and Delaney Fretts (32nd/24:40) finished as the Lady Leopards’ top five.
Geibel Catholic senior Emma Larkin finished in 20th place with a time of 23:39.8 to medal.
Albert Gallatin’s Ashley Comaty was 49th in 26:22.8. West Greene was led by Eryka Hackney, who was 51st in 26:31.8. California’s Macie Huba crossed the finish line in 29:23.5 in 78th place.
The Red Raiders were led by senior Ethan Syner, who finished ninth in 17:51.4. He was followed by Belle Vernon’s Leonidas Soto, who was 10th in 18:03. The Trojans’ Carter Kent was 12th in 18:20.3.
Uniontown’s Logan Davis was six seconds behind Kent in 13th place.
Syner, Soto, Kent and Davis all medaled.
The remainder of the Red Raiders’ top five consisted of Stephen Chapley (29th/19:43.1), Matthew Page (30th/19:45.5) and Zachary Fisher (31st/19:53.6).
Uniontown was third overall in the team standings with 112 points. The Raiders were first among Class 2A schools. University won the team title with 39 points, as Micah Gainer won the race in 16:29, and teammate Logan Conroy was second in 16:39.6, which had University on its way to the team championship.
West Greene’s Joel Grimes finished 24th with a time of 19:32.5.
Albert Gallatin’s Brock Mace was 26th in 19:37.5.
