Uniontown volleyball sweeps Albert Gallatin

Uniontown earned a 3-0 sweep over Albert Gallatin in Section 3-3A girls volleyball play Thursday night at Albert Gallatin High School.
The Red Raiders (3-4, 6-4) won by set scores of 25-13, 25-17 and 25-20.
Uniontown had 70 total digs, 27 kills, 26 assists and eight aces. The Red Raiders’ Addi Majoros had a team-high 23 digs, and teammates Lyric McLee and Qua’Mari Scott added 10 digs apiece. McLee had five kills.
Ava Livingood led the visitors in kills with eight. Maggie Campbell had 16 assists and eight kills. Hallie Campbell added eight assists.
The Colonials’ Riylee Abel had four assists, three digs, one ace and a kill. Teammate Ellie Seese added three kills, two digs, one ace and a block.
Paityn Goletz had four assists, three kills and one block, and Mikayla Shea chipped in with two digs, one ace and a kill.
Albert Gallatin’s Isabelle Usher (3 kills/2 blocks), Danica Sterbutzel (4 digs/1 kill), Mika Giachetti (1 dig/1 kill), Gabby DeLorenzo (6 digs), Lily Mick (4 digs), Kylee Augustine (3 digs) and Jenna Myers (1 ace) contributed statistically.
Brownsville 3, McGuffey 0 — The Falcons continued their strong season in a sweep over the Highlanders in Section 2-3A play at Brownsville Area High School.
Brownsville (7-1, 10-1) won by set scores of 25-15, 25-22 and 25-13.
The Falcons’ Emma Leigh Bailey had 14 assists, 10 service points and five aces. Teammate Skyler Gates had 12 kills and 10 service points.
Brownsville’s Kenzie Adams had a team-high 16 assists.
Aijanae Foster added 11 kills for the home team. Brooke Walters contributed nine service points.
Frazier 3, Greensburg Central Catholic 0 — The Commodores remain unbeaten in Section 1-4A play following a sweep of the Centurions at Greensburg Central Catholic.
Frazier won by set scores of 25-11, 25-15 and 25-22 and improved to 5-0 in the section and 7-3 overall.
The Commodores’ Allie Monack had 12 assists and 11 kills. Teammate Grace Polkabla had 10 digs and service points apiece. Emme Travalena led the visitors in blocks with six.
Maddie Salisbury had 11 assists and 10 kills for Frazier. Lola Marish had seven service points and Addison Hiles chipped in with six digs. Mia West blocked four attacks.
Waynesburg Central 3, Charleroi 0 — The Raiders earned a sweep on the road at Charleroi in Section 2-3A action.
Waynesburg improved to 8-0 in section play and 11-0 overall.
The Raiders’ Emily Rafferty had eight kills, five digs, four aces and one block. Teammate Ani Cree had 15 kills and seven digs.
Waynesburg’s Gina Tedrow had 14 assists and two aces, and teammate Chatham Knight contributed with 13 assists and two aces.
Lelia McCollum had 12 digs and an ace for the visitors. Railey Bochna added six digs, four kills and one ace.
Harper Grimes had five kills and two aces. Emma Blair contributed statistically for the Raiders with two kills and one block.
Thomas Jefferson 3, Belle Vernon 0 — The undefeated Jaguars rolled to a Section 3-3A sweep over the Leopards at Belle Vernon Area High School.
The set scores were 25-22, 25-19 and 25-17 in favor of Thomas Jefferson (7-0, 8-1).
Belle Vernon’s Abby Nickolls had 17 assists. Teammate Joy Johnson saved points for the Leopards with 15 digs. Mailey Hayes had seven digs.
Mallory Wasicek (7) and Mia Roebuck (6) led the Leopards (4-3, 7-3) in kills.
Football
Seton LaSalle 41, Waynesburg Central 14 — Teagen Crouse scored on touchdown runs of 76 and 13 yards, but the Raiders dropped a Class 2A Century Conference match-up to the Rebels at Domont Stadium.
Seton LaSalle’s Kymarr Freeman opened the scoring with a four-yard run in the first quarter and the Rebels (3-0, 5-1) had a 7-0 lead after Jeremy Rose connected on the first of five PATs.
Freeman found the end zone on a 56-yard run in the second quarter. He gained 121 yards on 11 carries.
Kia Jones scored on a 36-yard run, as Seton LaSalle had a 14-0 advantage after the first quarter. Jones was 7 of 12 for 70 yards.
Crouse’s 76-yard run and the first of two extra points from Nate Ricciuti cut the deficit to 14-7, but Freeman’s second score extended the Rebels’ halftime lead to 14.
Will Martin scored on a 68-yard run in the third quarter before Crouse scored in the fourth to pull Waynesburg (0-2, 2-4) within two scores at 27-14.
Deondre Hill (18 yards) and Jonathan Wega (12 yards) ran for touchdowns to put the game away for the home team.
Crouse was 6 of 13 for 47 yards.
Boys soccer
Allderdice 5, Uniontown 3 — The Red Raiders scored three goals in the last 15 minutes, but the Dragons had two much of an advantage for the home team to overcome in non-section play at Bill Power Stadium.
Uniontown (3-9) trailed 5-0 with 14:37 to play in the match when Braylon Woods flicked a soft touch to Ty Harvey, who put the ball in the back of the net to cut the deficit to 5-1.
Woods, who had a shot hit the post in the first half, drew a foul in the box with 3:26 remaining and was awarded a penalty kick. Woods went low and to the left of the cage for the goal before drawing another penalty-kick opportunity with 2:39 left. The junior put the ball in the upper right-hand corner for his second goal of the match.
Red Raider keeper Noah Holland made 15 saves.
Ethan Voight-Cherna scored four goals for Allderdice (7-4). Luca Fuerte had the other tally for the Dragons. Jonah Libertus had two assists.
Ringgold 1, Laurel Highlands 0 — Jay Jaki scored the game-winning goal with 4:45 remaining, as the Rams avenged an earlier-season setback to the Mustangs in Section 2-3A play at Joe Montana Stadium.
Ringgold improved to 5-4-0 in the section and 6-5-0 overall. The Rams have a one-game lead over Laurel Highlands (4-5-0, 7-5-0) for fourth place in the section standings. The Mustangs defeated Ringgold, 2-0, on Aug. 28 at Mustang Field.
The sequence that led to Jaki’s goal began with Rams senior Michael Stasko winning a corner kick. Stasko booted the corner into the box where Jaki’s header beat the Laurel Highlands keeper.
Xavier Wilson won the clean sheet with the help of Ringgold defenseman Joshua Molisee.
Beth-Center 3, Chartiers-Houston 1 — The Bulldogs had three goal scorers in a Section 2-1A victory over the Buccaneers at Chartiers-Houston.
Parker Amos, Nekoda Bundy and Wyatt Pash scored for Beth-Center (4-1-0, 8-3-0).
Mount Pleasant 8, Derry 0 — Tyke Snyder had five points in the Vikings’ shutout win over the Trojans at Vikings Stadium in Section 4-2A play.
Snyder had a brace and three assists, as the home team improved to 8-1-0 the section and 9-4-0 overall.
Teammate Gavin Rummel had two goals and Mount Pleasant’s Grant Zahrobsky had a goal and two assists.
Austyn Gross added a goal and assist, and the Vikings’ Landon Stuart had a tally. Tyler Barron found the back of the net. Bryson Bankosh had two helpers.
Grayson Gardner had the clean sheet. The backline of Damien Ohler, Cayden Pickins, Kyle Hoffer, Carter Spaw, Tyler Kurtz and Carter Voke helped Gardner earn the shutout.
Mount Pleasant scored three goals in the first half and five in the second.
Upper St. Clair 3, Connellsville 1 — Jace Gratchic scored for the Falcons in a Section 2-4A setback against the Panthers at Connellsville Stadium.
Connellsville (0-6-0, 2-10-1) is at Woodland Hills (2-4-0, 3-5-0) on Tuesday in section play.
Penn-Trafford 1, Belle Vernon 0 — The Warriors scored the lone goal of the match in the second half for a Section 3-3A victory at Penn-Trafford.
The Warriors (4-3-0, 7-4-0) avenged a 2-0 loss to the Leopards (5-2-0, 7-6-1) that occurred on Aug. 28 at James Weir Stadium.
Belle Vernon keeper Morgan Bunch stopped 10 shots.
Girls soccer
Baldwin 2, Belle Vernon 1 — Saylor Lee scored the opening goal for the Leopards on a free kick from 45 yards out, but the Highlanders responded with two second-half tallies for the non-section triumph at Baldwin.
Rory Bastedo and Skylar Salay had four saves apiece for Belle Vernon (5-2-1, 7-4-1).
Southmoreland 10, Uniontown 0 — Hannah Conn and Ashley Seder led the Scotties with three goals apiece in a non-section triumph over the Red Raiders at Bill Power Stadium.
Teammates Addy Jordan, Juliette Ice, Gia Vandyke and Bella Henderson also scored for Southmoreland (5-6-1).
Megan Potoka stopped five shots for the clean sheet.
Addy Horner started for Uniontown (0-11-0) and made 11 saves.
