Radcliffe scores twice in Mustangs’ win over Red Raiders

Cole Radcliffe’s brace lifted his team-leading goal count to 28 in Laurel Highlands’ 5-0 victory over cross-town rival Uniontown on Monday in non-section play at Bill Power Stadium.
The Mustangs’ Chase Hall also scored twice and added an assist. Jackson Nairn found the back of the net, as Laurel Highlands improved to 8-5-0. The Mustangs are 4-5-0 in Section 2-3A.
Roman George, Matt Kolencik and Ethan Yanosky assisted on goals for the home team.
LH keeper Dan O’Neal made four saves for the clean sheet.
Girls soccer
Laurel Highlands 12, Uniontown 1 — Camryn McClean had a four-point match with three goals and an assist in the Lady Mustangs’ triumph over the Lady Red Raiders in Section 3-3A play at Bill Power Stadium.
Teammates Morgan Faris and Ava Ruvacalba had two goals and one assist apiece, and Ella Doman added a brace.
Laurel Highlands’ Taylor Irwin had a goal and assist. Kenna Frey had a goal and Jakylah Dressel an assist.
Addison Stroko and Amelia Michael made two saves apiece for the Lady Mustangs (3-4-0, 5-5-0).
Laurel Highlands had a 7-1 halftime advantage.
Sadie Hostetler scored for Uniontown (0-7-0, 0-12-0) at 10:33 of the first half. Hostetler controlled a goal kick from keeper Kendal Nehls at around 73 yards from the Lady Mustangs’ goal, spun to her right and sprinted down the left side of the field before blasting a right-footed shot from 19 yards into the left corner of the cage.
Belle Vernon 1, Ringgold 0 — Jordy McDowell’s penalty-kick goal in the first half helped the Lady Leopards to a Section 1-2A victory over the Lady Rams at Joe Montana Stadium.
Belle Vernon improved to 6-2-1 in the section and 8-4-1 overall.
Skylar Salay and Rory Bastedo combined for the clean sheet. Salay stopped four shots on target, while Bastedo didn’t face a shot on goal, as the Lady Leopards controlled possession, and were led by the midfield play of McDowell, Kelsey Roskovich, Abby Russell and Payton Walsh.
“We controlled the game, held possession and created many chances,” Belle Vernon coach Tracy Lovett said. “Our midfield dominated all game. We won the 50-50 balls and kept them out of our end. I am very pleased with how we played.”
The Lady Leopards return to section play on Wednesday at McGuffey (3-5-0, 4-6-0).
Waynesburg Central 6, Beth-Center 0 — Kolbi Rastoka’s hat trick was key in the Lady Raiders’ victory in Section 2-1A play.
Ava DiAlesandro and Emily Rafferty had one goal and one assist apiece for Waynesburg (4-3-0, 7-3-0).
Addie Cowell added one goal. Rylei Rastoka had three assists and Gracie Knisley chipped in with a helper.
Mount Pleasant 3, Deer Lakes 0 — The Lady Vikings earned a key Section 4-2A victory over the Lady Lancers at Viking Stadium.
Mount Pleasant, who improved to 7-0-0 in the section and 10-3-1 overall, earned its 10th shutout of the season. The playoff-bound Lady Vikings are closing in on the section championship with three matches remaining in the season.
Deer Lakes (5-2-0, 10-2-0) must win out and receive some help for the section title, but the Lady Lancers have already qualified for the postseason.
Laurel Rummel earned the 52nd clean sheet of her career, but she only had to make one save.
Morgan Gesinski scored twice and assisted on Addison Czekaj’s goal in the 13th minute. Gesinski’s tallies came in the 36th and 54th minute.
Bentworth 17, California 0 — Brielle Dillon’s hat trick and Alex Jackson’s brace were key in the Lady Bearcats’ win in Section 2-1A play.
Bentworth (7-0-0, 11-1-1) had 14 different players score. Also adding goals were: Megan Keturakis, Madelyn Johns, Emme Orsatti, Bella Moyer, Joelie Conkle, Jesse Laskey, Brina Orsatti, Camille Sneith, Joa Johns, Meredith Allender, Zoey Gonglik and Brooke Leonetti.
South Fayette 11, Albert Gallatin 0 — Sophomore Gabby Beinecke recorded her 100th-career point in the Lady Lions’ victory over the Lady Colonials in Section 3-3A play at South Fayette.
Beinecke had a hat trick and one assist, while Silvi Rossi had a brace and three assists. Mia Deramo had two goals and an assist, as the Lady Lions improved to 7-0-0 in the section and 10-1-1 overall.
Emma Perrari had a goal and three assists.
Paige Deklewa, Lyla Tarin and Lexi Deutschendorf scored one goal apiece. Nora Davidovich, Abbey Spalla and Cameron Goldstein all had one assist.
Caitlyn Thompson and Lainey Kuglar combined for the shutout.
Girls volleyball
Frazier 3, Jefferson-Morgan 0 — The Lady Commodores earned a non-section sweep at Jefferson-Morgan Middle/Senior High School.
Frazier (8-3) won by set scores of 25-19, 25-9 and 25-10.
Maddie Salisbury led the Lady Commodores in kills with 20. She chipped in with 10 assists. Teammate Allie Monack had 23 assists and 18 service points.
Addison Hiles led the visitors in digs with nine. Frazier’s Mia West chipped in with six kills and three blocks.
Lola Marish had 13 service points and Emme Travalena added two blocks.
Turkeyfoot Valley 3, Mapletown 2 — The Lady Rams rallied from a one-set deficit to edge the Lady Maples in non-section play at Turkeyfoot Valley.
Mapletown (4-7) won the first set, 25-13, before Turkeyfoot scored a 25-21 victory in the second. The Lady Maples won the third set, 25-19, for a 2-1 lead, but the Lady Rams won the fourth, 25-18, and fifth, 15-11.
Mapletown’s Rowan Eisiminger had 20 kills, 13 digs and three aces. Treslee Weston contributed with 15 kills, eight digs, four aces and a block. Marley Shiflett added 35 assists, 13 digs, seven aces and five kills.
Belle Vernon 3, Southmoreland 0 — The Lady Leopards swept a non-section match over the Lady Scotties at Belle Vernon Area High School.
Belle Vernon (4-3, 8-3) won by set scores of 25-23, 26-24 and 25-22.
The Lady Leopards’ Mallory Wasicek led her team in digs (16) and kills (9). Teammate Abby Nickolls had 27 assists.
Aubrey Brown led the home team in kills with 15. Mia Roebuck had eight kills. Joy Johnson had 22 digs. Mailey Hayes added seven.
Beth-Center 3, Bentworth 0 — The Lady Bulldogs earned a non-section sweep at Beth-Center High School.
Beth-Center (9-0) won by set scores of 25-15, 25-23 and 25-11. The Lady Bearcats (5-7) were led in kills by Nora Lindley (6). Addison Pysh had five kills and three aces. Sofia Gaussa contributed with four kills.
Zoie McDonald led Bentworth in assists with 16.
