Grindstone native and Brownsville graduate Tessa Dellarose is just six matches into her professional soccer career, but the Chicago Stars FC rookie is already making an impact, and receiving praise from those in the Windy City.

The Chicago Local 134, who is the supporters group for the Chicago Stars, honors a “Star of the month,” and Dellarose was selected for April prior to the Stars’ home match against Boston Legacy FC on Saturday on Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium in Evanston, Ill.

Chicago blanked Boston, 2-0, and Dellarose was a key cog in helping her squad to their first clean sheet of the season. Dellarose, who has been starting on defense for the past five matches, has logged 90 minutes in each contest.

She has one goal in her lone shot on target, but has completed 74% of her passes and is at 64% on tackles from her position at left back.

The Chicago Local 134 was founded in 2009, and the name originates from the city’s rich history and ties to unions. The number was the section the original supporters sat during the team’s times in Bridgeview.
