Observer-Reporter Laurel Highlands graduate Matt Humbert has resigned as the athletic director at Belle Vernon.

Matt Humbert is leaving Belle Vernon.

Humbert, who spent over a decade at Belle Vernon, has resigned as the school’s athletic director to take the same position at Bethel Park.

The news was made official in a letter sent out by Belle Vernon Superintendent Dr. Timothy Glasspool Thursday night.

The 2003 graduate of Laurel Highlands High School first came to Belle Vernon as the football coach in 2014 and took over as the athletic director in 2016.

As a football coach, Humbert led Belle Vernon to a pair of WPIAL and state titles in 2022 and ’23. He resigned as the football coach at the end of the 2024 season, but remained in his role as athletic director.

“Coach Humbert’s accomplishments are well documented, but his greatest legacy is the impact he had on our student athletes,” Glasspool said in the letter. “While we are certainly disappointed to see Coach Humbert leave Belle Vernon Area, we understand and respect his decision to continue his career at Bethel Park. We are grateful for his years of dedicated service and wish him every success in this next chapter.”
