Albert Gallatin downs Uniontown in section opener
Albert Gallatin’s trio of Garrett Snyder, Logan Diamond and Cami Williams helped lead the Colonials to a Section 2-3A victory over Uniontown on Tuesday in boys golf play at South Union Township Municipal Golf Course.
Snyder sank par putts on the second, fourth, fifth and seventh holes to earn medalist honors with a 44 on the front nine, par 36 course. Diamond carded a 48 and Williams shot 49 to put the visitors in good shape for the win.
Elim Martin parred on the first, fifth and nine holes to pace the Red Raiders with a round of 45. Liam Glover finished at 50 and Jason Vansickle had a 52 for the home squad.
Kiptyn Gmitter (54) and Mason Payton (55) closed out the scoring for Uniontown.
Gianni Paoli (52) and Trent Campbell (56) finished fourth and fifth for the Colonials.
JEFFERSON-MORGAN 221, BROWNSVILLE 236 — Miles and Trenton Sowden, and Urijah Teasdale set the tone for the Rockets in a Section 3-2A victory at Greene County Country Club.
Miles Sowden birdied the par-five, second hole, and had par putts on the third and ninth holes to score the low round with a five-over-par 41.
Trenton Sowden also birdied the second hole, and recorded pars on the third and ninth holes to card a round of 42. Teasdale made par on the second and the seventh holes.
The Falcons’ Ava Rohland made par putts on the third, fourth, fifth, seventh and ninth holes to lead her team in scoring at 44.
Teammate Connor Brown came in with Brownsville’s second lowest round at 45.
Brownsville’s Adam Vojacek had pars on the second and seventh holes prior to finishing with a 47.
The Falcons’ Dom Capan shot 49 before Carson Varndell closed his team’s scoring with a 51. Varndell sank a par putt on the sixth hole.
Mikey Vukmanic (47) and Chase Litman (49) finished the scoring for Jefferson-Morgan in its section opener. Litman parred the first and fourth holes, while Vukmanic had a par on the fourth.
MOUNT PLEASANT 219, BURRELL 239 — Matthew Labuda earned medalist honors with a round of 40 in the Vikings’ triumph in Section 2-2A play.
Labuda’s teammate, Austyn Gross, finished at 43, and Ezra Bowman and Hunter Snyder each carded a 45.
Quinn Painter’s 46 closed out the scoring for Mount Pleasant (1-0, 2-0).
Freshman Owen Holm had the low round for the Buccaneers (0-1, 1-1) with a round of 46. Teammate Brody Heasley shot a 47.
Wyatt Luke and Logan Shank each closed their rounds with a 48, and Zac Litz shot a 50.
YOUGH 222, FRAZIER 224 — The Cougars’ Morgan Calderon was the sixth starter, but shot the low round to rally Yough to a Section 8-2A victory at the Madison Club.
Calderon carded a 40 to propel Yough to the win.
The Commodores (1-1, 1-1) were led by Gavin Seich’s 42. Teammate John Sinchar shot a 43 and Tyler Jerico came in at 45.
Garrett Seich fired a 46 and Caden Biddle closed out the scoring for Frazier with a round of 48. Logan Solomon also shot a 48 for the visitors.
Ian Toman (43), Carl Singer (45), Barden Bronak (47) and Dallas Swank (47) round out the scoring for the Cougars.
