Maskil Jr. earns sportsmanship award

Submitted photo Carmichaels’ Scott Maskil Jr. received the Annual Paul Lancaster Sportsmanship Award prior to Monday’s game in the Fayette County American Legion playoffs at Hutchinson Field in Uniontown. Lancaster, who was a longtime umpire and staple in the community, died in 2021. The award is named in memory of Lancaster, and has been presented by veteran umpire Joe Volpe. The two umpires from Monday’s contest between Uniontown and Carmichaels, Tommy Sankovich and Volpe, along with Carmichaels coaches Reed Long and Dave Rankin accepted the award with Maskil.
