Mildren blasts two homers in Carmichaels’ victory

By Jonathan Guth 2 min read

Albert Gallatin graduate Noah Mildren hit two home runs and that was more than enough offense for Matt Bamford in Carmichaels’ 6-0 victory over Mill Run on Tuesday in Fayette County Baseball League (FCBL) action at Carmichaels.

Mildren hit his first homer in the bottom of the first inning to score Aaron Previsky, who was hit-by-pitch for a 2-0 lead. Mildren’s shot went to right field. Ben Shields followed with a solo blast to left field for a 3-0 advantage.

The Copperheads (7-2-1) extended their lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the third when Mildren reached first base safely on an error and scored on Shields’ double to left field. Shields scored on Luke Camden’s line-drive double to center field. Both runs were unearned and scored with two outs in the frame.

Mildren’s second homer came in the fifth inning, as he hit a 2-1 count to right field for the game’s final run.

Bamford threw a one-hit shutout over seven innings. He struck out six and walked four in throwing 87 pitches (51 strikes).

Logan Kemp led off the top of the fourth inning for the Millers (2-11) with a base hit to center field. Alek Wagor also walked in the frame, but Bamford forced a groundout to Mildren at third base to get out of the inning unscathed.
