Uniontown flag football downs Baldwin in opener
Lyric McLee completed five passes for touchdowns, including three to Aierra Jankins, in leading Uniontown to a 38-14 victory over Baldwin on Tuesday at Baldwin in Section 2 girls flag football action.
The Lady Red Raiders, who have played the sport in prior seasons, were competing in their first game that will go toward an opportunity to compete for a WPIAL championship.
McLee was 14 of 23 for 203 yards, and she had two carries for 43 yards, with a long of 35. Jenkins, who will play flag football for PennWest California next season, pulled in eight receptions for 106 yards. She also caught a two-point conversion and was 1 of 1 for 12 yards.
Imari Wilson led the game in rushing with 102 yards on 15 carries. She had a long of 42 yards and one touchdown on the ground. She caught three passes for 80 yards and pulled in a touchdown reception.
Miracle Mosley caught a 15-yard touchdown pass. She had six carries for 43 yards.
McLee was a force on defense with two interceptions, sacks, pass breakups and tackles for loss. She had five total stops. Jenkins had six tackles, four pass breakups and an interception.
Wilson led the team in tackles (8) and sacks (5). She had two tackles for loss. Lanieta Uluilakeba had an interception and four tackles, and Gabbi Biagini chipped in with a sack and two tackles.
Uniontown clung to a 14-6 lead at halftime, but used an 18-0 advantage in the third quarter to extend its edge to 32-6 heading into the final frame. The Highlanders won the fourth quarter, 8-6.
