Uniontown clay shooting fares well in Week 1
Uniontown’s clay target shooting team had a strong showing to open the spring portion of its season.
The Red Raiders took first place in trap, skeet and 5-stand. They scored 4,159 in trap, had a total of 154.5 in skeet and 96 points in 5-stand.
Aden Brame led Uniontown in male trap scoring with an average of 25. Teammate Aidan Hair was second in 24.50, and Rocco Tom and Ethan Nicholson tied for fifth at 24.
The Red Raiders’ Ryder Burnsworth and Wesley Smolenski both shot 23.50 for eighth place. Brayden Gmitter was 17th (23), and Isiah Currey and Leland Peck tied for 22nd at 22.50.
Holly Piovarch was second in female trap shooting with an average of 24. Bethany Wise was third (23) and Raelee Bruich tied for fourth (22).
Uniontown’s Lillian Sadler was in a tie for 11th at 20.50.
Laurel Vogel (19th/18) and Kenna Whitaker (20th/17.50) rounded out Uniontown’s female trap scores.
Hair and Nicholson tied for first in male skeet with an average of 22.50. Teammate Austin King was fourth (21.50) and Peck tied for fifth (21).
Sadler was second in the female skeet with an average of 21. Piovarchy was third in 20.50 and Vogel fourth in 19.50. Wise was fifth (17.50) and Bruich sixth (15).
Hair led the Red Raiders in 5-stand with a four-place finish with a score of 23. Nicholson was seventh in 20.50 and Brame eight (20).
Piovarchy led all 5-stand female shooters with an average of 20. Sadler was second at 17 and Voegel third after averaging 16.
Wise (4th/14.50) and Bruich (5th/13) closed the scoring for Uniontown.
The co-ed team welcomes all students in grades 6-12. Students from not only Uniontown, but Albert Gallatin, Carmichaels, Laurel Highlands and Turkeyfoot Valley also compete for the Red Raiders.
