Laurel Highlands’ Baker wins 1,600 at Baldwin Invite
Bella Baker showed the WPIAL that she can keep up with the top 1,600-meter runners in Class 3A after winning the event on Friday in the Baldwin Invitational at Baldwin High School.
The Laurel Highlands senior won the race in a PR (personal record) 5:19.08. She reached the podium in the 800 after finishing in 2:25.92.
The Mustangs’ Diondra Brown, also a senior, was second in the 200-meter dash in 26.39. She took silver in the long jump after a leap of 18-7.75.
Uniontown senior Ethan Syner placed seventh in the boys 3,200-meter run with a PR of 10:18.59.
Ellie Carei was eighth in the girls pole vault after clearing 9-10, which is a PR for the sophomore.
Belle Vernon’s Ryan Kent won the discus (172-6) and shot put (55-4.5). The senior was third in the javelin (164-3).
Teammate Leonidas Soto was third in the 3,200 with a time of 10:13.87.
Belle Vernon’s Lily Walsh was sixth in the girls 3,200 in a time of 12:07.37. The Leopards’ Courtney Martin placed third in the 300 hurdles in 47.53.
California’s Carter Kent was eighth in the boys 1,600 with a time of 4:38.24.
Connellsville’s Glen Strickler was third in the shot put at 49-11.5. Teammate Ellic Pritts was fourth in the 3,200 in a time of 10:17.11.
The Falcons’ Sarah Tinkey was sixth in the girls shot put (32-9).
Waynesburg Central’s Nate Ricciuti was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.21. The freshman was seventh in the 300 hurdles in 42.40.
The Raiders’ Mason Schroyer cleared 12-8 to place seventh in the pole vault.
Waynesburg’s Railey Bochna was seventh in the high jump with a leap of 4-10.
