Albert Gallatin super: No school consolidation next year

All schools in the Albert Gallatin School District will remain in operation next year after the district board voted not to grant permission for a public hearing on closing any schools. The 5-4 vote came at a special meeting held Thursday night that also included discussion of the 2025-26 and 2026-27 budgets. Superintendent Christopher Pegg said based on preliminary discussions with the district’s business manager, about $1.5 to $2 million will still need to be cut from the 2026-27 budget in order to balance it, primarily from personnel. Farmington resident pleads guilty to distributing child sex abuse material

A Farmington man pleaded guilty to distributing videos of minor children engaged in sexually explicit conduct, federal prosecutors said Tuesday. Nathan Fike, 41, sent the videos to an undercover FBI agent in October 2023, according to a release from the U.S. attorney’s office. When federal agents executed a search warrant at Fike’s home, they found additional videos and photos of young children. Fike will be sentenced in June, and faces a minimum of five years in prison, with a maximum of 20 years. He can also be fined up to $250,000. Washington man accused of assaulting police officer

East Washington police charged a man with a felony of aggravated assault Saturday after he was accused of assaulting a police officer while being arrested. Tyler Alan Lash, 30, of Washington, also faces misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of children and resisting arrest. According to the criminal complaint, at about 11 p.m. police were called to the 100 block of South Wade Street for a report of two men fighting. Charging documents state that police found Lash's vehicle with two children under the age of 9 in the backseat. The car was off, and it was about 36 degrees outside. Peters Township man charged for threatening neighbor with gun

A SWAT team was called to Peters Township Saturday night after a man was accused of threatening his neighbor with a shotgun. Gregory Steven Morris, 68, faces a felony charge of aggravated assault, and misdemeanors of terroristic threats, simple assault and reckless endangerment. According to the criminal complaint, police were called to Morris' home at 105 Timber Oak Court at about 10:10 p.m. Saturday. A neighbor, who police did not identify, said he knocked on Morris' door to speak with Morris regarding a parking complaint. Morris allegedly answered the door wielding a shotgun.
