Community Foundation accepting scholarship applications

Students pursuing post-secondary education during the 2026-27 school year are invited to apply for scholarships offered through the Community Foundation of Fayette County. Applicants will complete a universal application to determine their eligibility for various opportunities. A list of matching scholarships will display; each will have additional questions and must be submitted individually. There are also four stand-alone applications that must be applied for outside of the universal application. Everson council president charged with stalking

The Everson Borough Council president is facing criminal charges after allegedly placing a tracking device in a borough police car without officers knowing. Jason Frazier, 43, was the registered owner of the Apple AirTag found in the car's trunk, according to his criminal complaint. While patrolling on the night of July 24, Assistant Police Chief Michael Garlowich received a cellphone alert that the device was moving with him in one of the borough’s police cars, the complaint said. The alert then led him to the trunk of the car, where he found the AirTag directly under the police antenna. Commissioners to appoint seven members to opioid settlement review committee

A newly formed committee will help the Washington County commissioners decide what organizations, nonprofits and programs should receive grants from the county’s share of the nationwide opioid settlement fund. The commissioners during today’s 10 a.m. voting meeting are expected to approve the seven-person review committee that includes county government officials, drug rehabilitation specialists, nonprofit leaders, school administrators and even a local police chief.
