Indianapolis men charged in burglary spree

Three Indianapolis men are accused of conspiring to steal money by breaking into cash machines 27 times across southwestern Pennsylvania over a three-month period. Charges were filed against the three men — Kavon Carter, 24; Demarkis Bartlett, 28; and Tony Edwards, 22 — in Fayette County Wednesday. Between December 2024 and February 2025, they allegedly committed 27 burglaries across Fayette, Greene, Washington, Allegheny, Erie, Butler and Venango counties. Police said the restitution needed to cover the thefts and damages would be more than $83,000, with the dollar amounts of multiple burglaries still to be determined, according to the complaint. SCI Greene inmate awarded $37,500 in civil suit

A federal jury this week decided in favor of an SCI-Greene inmate who said he had been subjected to cruel and unusual punishment after being held in solitary confinement for 50 days in a section reserved for mentally ill inmates. Maurice Able, 43, filed suit in the Western District of Pennsylvania in 2018. Able, who is serving a life sentence for murder, also said prison staff had shown deliberate indifference by depriving him of necessities and outside recreation, as well as failing to turn over legal material to him in a timely fashion. Two more Charleroi parents charged for poor living conditions

Charleroi police charged two more parents who were living with their children in a building without running water or sewage. Lucner Joseph, 43, and Navilia Norazier, 40, were each charged last week with felonies of endangering the welfare of children. Joseph and Norazier were living at 515 McKean Ave. with their four children. It is the same building where 40-year-old Jackson Alexis and 27-year-old Roldy Noel were living with two children. Their children were allegedly using a bucket to go to the bathroom. Dodgeball event raises more than than $4,200

The Ks Foundation raised more than $4,200 during its Dodge for a Cause dodgeball fundraiser Feb. 22 at the Uniontown YMCA. Ten teams participated in the round-robin event called “A Successful Celebration of Community and Kids’ Dreams.” The Ks foundation, which began in July 2025, covers registration for youth sports for families that earn $49,000 or less yearly. More fundraising events are planned to support the foundation’s mission to help every child participate in sports.
