MASONTOWN — The election polling place for voters living in District 2 in Masontown has been moved, borough officials announced Tuesday.

Mayor Toni Petrus said the Fayette County Election Board approved moving the polling place from fire hall on North Washington Street to St. Francis of Assisi, the former All Saints School, at 100 S. Washington St.

The board approved the change at a meeting earlier in the day, she said.

In unrelated business, council tabled voting on a $6,045 proposal from Advent Communications to install a new phone system in the borough building, including the police station.

The current system is antiquated and replacement parts are hard to come by, said Frank McLaughlin, borough council president.

Councilman John Stoffa suggested looking into an Internet-based system that could also be linked to the water plant.

In other business, council:

n Approved paying John Krause Electric Services $7,830 for installing lighting and doing other electrical work at the water plant.

n Approved paying R.W. Sleighter Engineering $2,360 for attendance at council meetings and preparing an annual report.

n Approved paying Southwestern Pennsylvania Water Authority and Bankson Engineering Inc. $1,802 toward the engineering costs for a water service interconnection.
