There will be a Vacation Bible School at Calvary Chapel of Brownsville, 112 Thornton Road, Brownsville, from Aug. 4-8 from 6-8:30 p.m. The theme is “Wonder Junction.”
Malden Christian Fellowship, 343 Old National Pike, Brownsville is holding a “Lava Lava Luau” Vacation Bible School on Monday thru Friday, Aug. 4 – 8 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. They are asking for donations of supplies: tongue depressors, paints, wooden clothes pins, youth size plain white t shirts, Elmers white glue, Kool aid pouches, snacks, and monetary donations. On Saturday, Aug. 9 from 1 to 9 p.m. there will be a free “SAM JAM” (Summer Art and Music Jamboree) at the Patsy Hillman Park, 156-198 Hillman Park Drive, Hiller. The local Christian Women’s Connection’s next luncheon is on Wednesday, Aug. 13 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Duck Hollow Golf Club, 374 Duck Hollow Road, Uniontown. Guests are asked to bring a homemade treat for a fundraiser. Vocalist is Rebekah Laughlin of Smithfield; speaker is Lisa Haley of West Sale, Ohio. Cost is $24, and reservations are necessary. There will be a food bank at Pleasant View Presbyterian Church, 533 Royal Road, Smock on Saturday, Aug. 16 at 10 a.m.
The St. Vincent de Paul-sponsored food bank will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 20 at the parking lot of the St. Mary’s Social Hall, 118 Church St., Brownsville from 11 a.m. to noon. Families wishing to sign up on the distribution day will need to bring photo identification, the date of birth of each person in the household, and verification of address.
The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive Thursday, Aug. 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the
St. Mary’s Social Hall/St. Peter’s Church Parish Center, 118 Church Street, Brownsville. Appointments can be scheduled at 1-800-733-2767.
Help is needed with unloading the food bank truck at the First Christian Church, 512 Second St., Brownsville on Friday, Aug. 22 at 9 a.m. The food bank is on Saturday, Aug. 23 from 9 – 10:30 a.m.
The shoe collection at the New Beginnings Apostolic Church, 1014 First Street, Hiller is continuing through the end of August. They are taking any type and size of shoes, which will go to those who are less fortunate. To donate, arrange for pick up or drop off with Janet at 724-970-9756 or Melissa at 724-366-8800.
The Brownsville Area Ministerial Association’s “Food For Falcons” food program is collecting applesauce cups and fruit cups in August. There will be a donation area in each participating Brownsville Area Ministerial Association church. At the end of the collection period the items will be gathered and taken to the Brownsville First Christian Church to be packed and sent home with selected elementary students.
On Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., the Allison Church of the Nazarene, 416 Vernon St., Allison, is holding prayer meetings for revival, renewal, and rebirth.
On the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 11 a.m., Abundant Life Church, 1239 Brownfield Road, Uniontown, holds a support group for those who have lost a spouse. All are welcome. For additional information, call 724-425-9700.
