A statewide effort to preserve the stories of Pennsylvania service members killed in World War II is seeking volunteer writers, including in Washington, Fayette and Greene counties. The project, led by Kathy Harmon of Franklin County, in south central Pennsylvania through the nonprofit Stories Behind the Stars, aims to document the lives of the estimated 421,000 fallen Americans from World War II, including 31,000 from Pennsylvania. A Farmington man is accused of traveling to a Fayette County park with the intent of a sexual encounter with a teenage girl. Gary Phares Jr., 39, had been communicating via text and Facebook with someone he thought was a 15-year-old girl for a month before Wednesday afternoon’s planned meet-up at the Wharton Township Park, according to the criminal complaint.
