Hearing set to discuss closure of Uniontown schools
A Scottdale man died Tuesday afternoon when his tri-wheeled motorcycle was involved in a rear-end crash with another vehicle in East Huntingdon Township. Mark F. Hixson was traveling north on Route 819 shortly before 2:45 p.m. when he struck the rear of an SUV near Cedar Drive, Westmoreland County Coroner John Ackerman said in a press release. Hixson was wearing a helmet, but was thrown from the motorcycle and struck the ground, Ackerman said. He was pronounced dead by the coroner’s office less than an hour later. Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pennsylvania (DVSSP) launched a new Significant Other Support Group to meet the needs of those often overlooked in domestic violence situations - the partners, family members, and friends of those how have experienced or are experiencing domestic violence. The Tri-Valley Artifact Show will be held on Saturday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the American Legion Post 902, 124 W. Pike St., Houston.
