A Fayette County man is accused of soliciting naked photos and videos from an underage girl and exchanging hundreds of explicit texts with her. The 13-year-old girl told police she had been communicating with Nicholas Bane, 19, of Merrittstown, on Snapchat for about two years. The conversations were found by the girl’s guardian in April as she was going through the girl’s phone, according to the criminal complaint. Police reviewed more than 700 messages between the two, most sexual in nature, court documents stated. In an interview with police in May, Bane said he had thought the girl was 14. Charleroi police charged a man this week after an investigation turned up AI-generated images of nude juveniles on his computer. Edward Charles Reid Jr., 61, of Charleroi, faces felony charges of possession of child sexual abuse material, intercepting communications, disclosing intercepted communications and misdemeanors of harassment and unlawful dissemination of an intimate image. According to the criminal complaint, the investigation into Reid began in August after a woman reported that Reid recorded her without her consent and posted pictures on the internet.
