The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) will conduct a solemn Memorial Day ceremony honoring John Ross Dunn, bugler of the 22nd Pennsylvania Cavalry, known as “The Ringgolds,” at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Ruff Creek, Greene County. The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 23, and is open to the public. Dunn served as a bugler in the first of Pennsylvania’s distinguished Civil War cavalry units. Buglers played a vital role on the battlefield, transmitting orders and signals that guided troop movements during combat. A Monongahela man is behind bars in Fayette County after an alleged police chase resulted in injuries to two police officers early Saturday morning. Frank Cope Jr., 54, is facing 20 charges including felony aggravated assault, flight to avoid apprehension and criminal mischief following an alleged police chase that began in North Strabane Township in Washington County around 1 a.m. and ended with Cope’s arrest in Fayette County, according to court documents.
