Tax payment reminder

The Dunbar Township Tax Office reminds property owners that the last day to pay county/township real estate and per capita tax without penalty is June 30. The office will have extended hours from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday with no break for lunch. All payments postmarked June 30 will be accepted. Taxpayers can also pay online by visiting allpaid.com. Pennsylvania law states that failure to receive a tax notice does not relieve taxpayers from their responsibility to pay the taxes due. The tax office can fax, email or text a copy of the notice upon request. Property owners can call the office at 724-626-0804, email dunbartownshiptaxoffice@yahoo.com or text 724-323-3834.

Four charged with animal cruelty in Greene

Four people are accused of aggravated animal cruelty and related crimes after they allegedly kept dozens of animals — some of which were found dead — in filthy conditions without adequate food in Greene County. Charges were filed Friday with Judge Thomas Ankrom against Timothy Cook, 21, of Marianna; Patricia Brungardt, 51, and Streame Chrest, 24, both of Creekside; and Thomas Brungardt, 44, of Derry. The investigation dates back to February, when a state police trooper from the Waynesburg barracks was called to a garage in Cumberland Township where a dead dog was found inside a towed vehicle. The vehicle, which troopers noted to have a “foul odor of decomposition, feces and ...
