Fayette County commissioners OK energy audit

The Fayette County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Thursday to enter into an agreement for a comprehensive assessment of county facilities to see where their energy efficiency could be improved. The audit agreement with the Harrisburg-based McClure Company will look at potential energy conservation measures and infrastructure improvements, as well as project costs and potential savings, according to materials provided by the board. The county will not incur any expenses from the audit at this time, according to the contract approved Thursday. Dispose of household chemicals at collection event

In June, Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) will host three household chemical collection events in western Pennsylvania to enable area residents to conveniently dispose of materials such as cleaners, paints, batteries, automotive fluids, e-cigarettes/vapes and pesticides. Events will be held Saturday, June 13, at the Fayette County Recycling Convenience Center, Uniontown, and Saturday, June 27, at EQT Park, Washington. Due to an inclement weather forecast for Saturday, a Memorial Day ceremony rededicating a memorial to Civil War bugler John Ross Dunn at the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Ruff Creek, Greene County, has been postponed.
