Washington, Fayette schools receive grants for career and technical education programs

A Washington County school district and two Fayette County career and technical centers were among 54 Pennsylvania schools that received a portion of $4.3 million in grants through the Competitive Equipment Grants program. The program helps with the purchase of new equipment for approved CTE programs that prepare students for in-demand jobs. Trinity Area School District and Fayette County Career & Technical Center each received $85,000, the maximum amount awarded, while Connellsville Area Career & Technical Center received $74,320. Uniontown man charged with sexually assaulting children

Charges were filed against a Uniontown man in three Fayette County courts Tuesday alleging physical and sexual abusing of children over a multi-year period. Daniel Lee Davis, 33, is accused of assaulting multiple children at locations in Uniontown and Springhill Township. Criminal complaints filed against Davis said a Pennsylvania State Police investigation began in 2025 after one of the children alerted a parent. Children detailed numerous incidents of sexual abuse, as well as an instance in which Davis hit one with a pan, according to the complaints. Four charged with endangerment in Fayette after toddlers found in roadway

Four people are accused of child endangerment after two toddlers in their care were spotted lying in the middle of a road in Allison. Police said the children were found to have wandered from the home of maternal grandmother Jeana Kline, 58, and paternal grandfather Thomas Darst, Jr., 50, both of Allison, who were named partial guardians by Fayette County Children and Youth Services. The Pennsylvania Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) provides income-eligible seniors with the opportunity to purchase locally grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs from approved farmers in Pennsylvania. The program provides five $5 vouchers totaling $25 to eligible seniors one time during the program year. The vouchers may be redeemed at designated area farmers markets through Nov. 30. A Brownsville man faces charges after being accused of fracturing a man’s leg during a dispute in April. According to the criminal complaint, Joseph Stokes, 59, accosted James Wellington as he was walking through a parking lot on Hopewell Road in Luzerne Township on the night of April 23.
