Fayette man accused of possessing child porn

A Farmington man is in custody on child pornography charges. Police recovered multiple images from the phone of Gary Phares Jr., 39, as the result of an investigation last month by state police in Uniontown and the state police’s Computer Crime Unit, according to charging documents. Phares is charged with possessing child sexual abuse material. Judge Nathan Henning set Phares’ bond at $100,000 Friday. He was lodged in the Fayette County jail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 26.

Fayette man charged with aggravated assault

Charges were filed Thursday against a Uniontown man accused of aggravated assault after an alleged attack on another man that police said left him unconscious for two days. Richard Saluga, Jr., 23, is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. John Gamble was not awake, cognitive or able to eat until Aug. 9, two days after he was brought to WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital, a nurse told police. When initially taken to the hospital on the night of Aug. 7, the man was treated as a stroke patient due to his medical assessment, court documents said. Greene mother accused of failing to report baby's abuse headed to trial

The mother of a Greene County infant who was physically and sexually assaulted by the baby's father is going to trial on charges of child endangerment. Prosecutors said Kyliene Rhome, 25, of Washington Township, knew about the suspected abuse by the child’s father, Zachary Bryte, before she took her month-old son to the hospital in June 2025.
