Washington coroner seeks information

The Washington County coroner's office is seeking information on two people who died recently. Richard McCartney was born April 29, 1964, and died at his Washington home on June 3, 2026. James O'Conner was born January 26, 1960, and died May 29, 2026, in a care facility in Washington County. He was from Waynesburg. Information on either may be directed to the coroner's office at 724-228-6785.

Man wanted in Fayette County assault caught after 12 years

A fugitive wanted for the sexual assault of a child is being extradited to Fayette County, more than a decade after he was originally charged. Jesse Merle Keffer, 55, was taken into custody by the Pennsylvania State Police’s Fugitive Task Force and U.S. Marshals Thursday morning, Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele said in a statement. The arrest came after a state police investigation found Keffer had been living near Charlotte, North Carolina, Aubele said. Keffer had been wanted since 2014, when he was charged with corruption of minors, indecent assault and indecent exposure in connection with an incident in McClellandtown. SCI Greene is hiring corrections officer trainees and filling additional positions across multiple fields.
