A Fayette County man is accused of soliciting naked photos and videos from an underage girl and exchanging hundreds of explicit texts with her. The 13-year-old girl told police she had been communicating with Nicholas Bane, 19, of Merrittstown, on Snapchat for about two years. The conversations were found by the girl’s guardian in April as she was going through the girl’s phone, according to the criminal complaint. Police reviewed more than 700 messages between the two, most sexual in nature, court documents stated. In an interview with police in May, Bane said he had thought the girl was 14. As Greene County begins preparing for next year’s presidential elections, it has new leadership in place in its elections office. At its meeting Thursday, the Greene County Board of Commissioners approved Josephine Weingardt as acting elections director and Dalton Zupper as acting elections manager. The board also approved a contract extension with Jessica Goughnour, a longtime elections worker in Westmoreland County who was brought on for clerical duties and to provide guidance ahead of last year’s November general election.
