Vicites to serve on national committee

Fayette County Commissioner Vince Vicites has been nominated to a committee seat on the National Association of Counties. SWPA announces water shutoff in Greene

Southwestern PA Water Authority will have the water shut off on Thursday, Aug. 13, between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Sugar Run Road from the Cabin Road intersection back toward town to the Dodahe Trailer Park in Greene County. It will also include: Dulaney Lane, Shadow Oaks Road, Champion Drive, Orchard Road and a small section of Porter Street. Customers may experience low pressure or no water and are advised to keep some containers of water to minimize the outage.

Child hospitalized after near-drowning at Jellystone Park in Springfield Township

A child was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital after nearly drowning at a Fayette County amusement park Saturday afternoon. The 8-year-old had to be rescued from a water attraction at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park along Route 381 in Springfield Township about 1:30 p.m., according to a Fayette County 911 dispatch supervisor. No other information was available about the incident, and the condition and identity of the child was not immediately released. Springfield Township volunteer firefighters assisted at the scene.
