Connellsville woman charged with aggravated arson

A Connellsville woman is accused of intentionally setting a fire at her home in May while other people were inside. Allie Ritenour, 35, was charged Friday with aggravated arson-person inside property; arson endangering property; criminal mischief, and recklessly endangering another person in connection with the May 3 fire. A neighbor told police Ritenour had run into the residence at 219A North 10th St. after arriving with her boyfriend minutes before the fire was reported at 1:46 p.m. Five to seven minutes later, the neighbor told police, the house was engulfed in flames, according to charging documents. Fayette County tourism grants available for businesses

Applications for the 2027 Fayette County Tourism Grant Program became available Aug. 24. Since the program’s inception, more than $10.4 million has been awarded to Fayette County businesses. “With a key focus on marketing, the Fayette County Tourism Grants afford a business the opportunity to enhance and advance its marketing reach to visitors,” said Ann Nemanic, executive director of GO Laurel Highlands, the county’s official destination marketing organization. “Only visitor-facing businesses can apply, and the process is open to for-profit and not-for-profit organizations and businesses.” To be considered, applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. Oct. 2. Waynesburg man charged with aggravated assault

Police are seeking a Waynesburg man accused of injuring several people Sunday night after backing his car into a garage while allegedly drunk. Witnesses told Waynesburg police that James Roach, 35, had been asked to leave a gathering at 310 E. Lincoln St. before backing his Jeep Grand Cherokee into the garage shortly after 7 p.m. Stacey Lewis, who was standing near the garage entrance, was hit with the back of the vehicle near the fuel tank, the complaint said.
