Washington County man wins prestigious master pilot, mechanic awards
A fire that damaged a North Union Township house last week has been ruled an arson. North Union volunteer firefighters were called to 103 Maddas St. shortly before 5 a.m. Thursday to battle the blaze, and later requested the state police fire marshal to come to the scene to investigate. The fire caused about $50,000 damage to the house, and the fire marshal ruled it an arson, according to a press release from state police. No injuries were reported, and it was not known if anyone was in the house when firefighters arrived. Anyone with information on the fire is asked to call the state police fire marshal at 724-223-5200 or 724-439-7111 and ask to speak to a fire investigator.
A Uniontown man is accused of raping a woman while he was at her house earlier this month. Darren Harrison, 33, was charged Tuesday with rape, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault in connection with the incident, which the alleged victim told police happened on Fayette Street in Uniontown in the early morning hours of Sept. 2. The alleged victim told Harrison to stop several times during the assault, the complaint said.
